The strip is ALWAYS crowded. But it is more so on party nights (which seem to be daily) But in the evening on the weekends-forget it. Don't take a cab, because you will get stuck in major traffic. The tram has a $5 all day pass & it does come in handy. Some hotels also are connected so you never have to face the ugly traffic outside. Whenever there rates are lowest on their websites, it will probably be least busy.

When we were there, mid-morning/early afternoon. We have pics of the strip at that time where it's practically deserted. Early morning is when the all-night partyers go back to their hotels, and by mid-afternoon the strip starts to get crowded again.

It is always crowded, but if you want the less crowds, I say look around and browse the hotels and how much they charged per night. If it is a low fee like Excalibur would be charging hundreds per night and you see a low fee, chances are that it will be less crowded that time and chances are not that much people are in Las Vegas.

Doomsday!!!!!
It is always crowded but the further north you go the less crowded it becomes. Tropicana Avenue as far north as Treasure Island/Venetian is jam packed 24/7
