well, you have received many answers, that is, the financial cost. Guess it depends where you are located.
The emotional cost is this: an abortion may seem a quick, easy, answer to a teenage pregnancy. You know, it is over quickly, and nowadays, you may not feel so much pain, maybe...depends what you can pay. The abortion pill is the most painful way to go...a friend of mine had both an abortion and an abortion pill. Said the pill was horrible, to the point of being in agony until the baby was out (2 days for hers).
The person having the abortion will be ok, most likely, physically, that is. Afterward, she will have to deal with her feelings, her emotions, her guilt. A part of her will seem like it had died and she won't ever get that back. The baby IS a part of her, so, this makes sense. She will remember the day of the abortion the rest of her life, and the anniversary date of when her child would have been born. She will see other children about the same age as HER child would be, and be reminded again what she allowed to happen to her.
Abortion is something she will never be able to forget, and also may be something she can never forgive herself for.

I hope the teenager you speak of knows all this before she decides, for good, what she will do.

Please be careful....there are always consequences to our actions...always.

The kindest thing you can do for your friend is to accept that responsibility and not make one other mistake to cover another. GBU.

If the girl does have the abortion, there are places she can counseling.

one is:
rachelsvineyard.org

which offers help in emotional healing after an abortion; it is low cost and has retreats all over the country and is Christian based. The retreat usually goes from a Friday evening to a Sunday early afternoon.

There IS healing after abortion.

Well seens how the name says Aaron on your profile I'm guessing you are a boy. If this is about you getting a 16 year old girl pregnant then you need to be responsible and so does she and deal with it and do the right thing by not getting an abortion. Why kill an innocent baby? No matter how you look at it there is a baby growing inside of her. No matter how far along she is. Have you seen pictues of how a abortion is done and what all happens? It's horrible it really is and no one should go through it. If you thought you were old enough to have sex and NOT use protection then you are old enough to have a baby and take care of it. 9 weeks is 2 months and 1 week along ya know. It's already growing. In another 2 months you can find out the sex of the baby. It really hurts me when people actually think about or go through with abortions, you know why? It's not only because you are killing an innocent baby and giving it no life that it deserves but because there are so many women and couples in this world that can't have babies. I think you should go through with having the baby but in the meantime really think about if you can handle it or not and if you both think you can't then please give it up for adoption for someone else to have that chance to raise a child and give it all the love it needs. I really hope you both are smart and make the right decision. I wish you the best!!

400-500, in CA, but I hear other states are much higher. Consider adoption. Abortion can be hell for a 16 y/o, heres why:
Under 21 y/o abortions carry MUCH higher riskes
16 y/o you have a severe chance of having hemmeroging and mass internal bleeding. You can die easily from this (Read about abortion deaths at deathroe.com, they are quite commono)

abortion DOUBLES your risk of breast cancer and ups your chance of suicide by 20%.
(silentnomore.com)

Take into account these factors:
A fetus at 2 days qualifies as a human. Having 46 chromosomes, its own unique soul and dna, and the makings of a body.
A fetus at 4wks (1 month)has a heart and a face, as well as a spinal cord. The heart is just beginning to beat. -your child

A fetus at 8 weeks (2 months) has a sense of touch (meaning it can FEEL) has working organs and a bone structure. -your child
(IF YOU ABORT YOUR CHILD NOW IT WILL FEEL EVERYTHING!)

A fetus at 13 weeks can make expressions and has its own uniqe set of fingerprints
16 weeks, it moves
20 weeks- A fetus can now live on its own outside of the mother (the youngest living fetus) and can hear. It can taste.

Have you considered adoption? its an option that you and your child can live with. It would save your child, and many people have trouble concieving, and would love a baby in their life. Abortion is murder, because it stops a heart that is beating. Plus, there is a good chance you wont be able to have anymore children. Abortion now could be more harmful 2 u than childbirth at this age. There are schools that offer free childcare too while you are in Highschool.( Look up CONTINUATION SCHOOL)
God bless you and that child.

It will cost around $350. That is what it was when I had one. I wasn't 16, I was in my late 20's. I was one who was totally against abortion. Just sometimes it's the thing to do. I cried during the whole procedure, but at the time it was the only option(long story) Still think about it to this day-5years later. Do what you have to do-only you know if it's the right thing to do. Don't wait til your second semester, more expensive/painful, don't know if they will even do them anymore when you get that far along. GOOD LUCK!

where are you from? In the uk abortions are provided free of charge. she will need to visit her GP or a family planning clinic where she will receive counselling and a referal from the doctor which is avalable there. Alternatively if she prefers to go private the cost is a least £400+, only selected clinics and hospitals carry out this procedure. check out bupa, marie stopes international and Bpas websites for more info.

oh and to all you small minded people out there, the question was about the cost, not about your opinions on whether abortion is right or wrong, it is hard being in this position without criticism from predjudiced individuals.

Your probably going to get a lot of abuse and not a lot of good advice of the pro lifers on here.

You do need to think it through as it is a decision you will have to live with for the rest of your life.

But to answer your question (assuming your in the UK) you can get the procedure done for free on the NHS but act quickly as the further on you get, the more complicated it gets. Your GP needs to agree that having the baby will be detrimental to your health (physical or mental) but looking at your age they shouldn't object.

Under 9 weeks is fairly straight forward and requires half a day in hospital.

I hope you make the decision that is right for you, good luck.

Make sure to look in to the reputation of the clinic, and not just the price. An abortion can cause a lot of problems down the road if done incorrectly. It is something that needs to be done with great care, not just at the cheapest place. Any medical place should take payments. Find a good reputable place who will do it well, as to not cause fertility problems down the road. Then call and set up a payment plan with them.

well first of all, u can go on the nhs if ur in britain but if u dnt wna do that, it probly aint that much

But ur a male and ur askin! have you asked her how she feels or if she actually wants to have one???
emotionally its a big thing, if she doesnt want a child than she can have it adopted as there are many people who would love a chance to have a family. if shes worried about what family thinks (or friends) they'll all come round and will ben supportive, the ones that care anyway. if u really dont want a child, you should have used contreception! Both of you!!!

so many things can go wrong when havin an abortion so please ask your girlfriend to think carefully before she goes ahead with it and talk to someone. can u live with the thought u got rid of a life before it even had a chance???

The life of two children? First, the unborn baby and second, the life of the 16 yr old CHILD who's losing her first child?

I get the feeling you're attempting to stir up trouble because the cost of an abortion isn't dependent upon the age of the mother/victim.

However, it is dependent upon the age of the unborn baby as to what type of method used to injure and then kill the baby..
