We must always accept who we are, which does not mean that we cannot improve ourselves.
To love is not a matter of readiness nor is it a decision we make. It just happens. And we will never know how or when or why it happens.
To be loved in return?
Why, that is an even much more difficult event to happen.

Yes, in order to love and to appropriately RECEIVE love. However, there are those people who love even t hose who have yet to learn to love themselves...
Naturally, though, it is most advantageous for all when BOTH parties have done introspection; realized and identified their strengths and their shortcomings and also taken steps for improvement....particularly those shortcomings that impact interactions with others. One of the worst things one can do is identify, then say "Well, that's just how I am" - that is a "cop-out"...We can ALL modify, change and grow.

Absolutely. If you don't love yourself, nobody will be able to love you. All of your choices in life will be colored by your hang ups.
Self acceptance will free you to love the right person and love them rightly.

I think so. Like attracts like, and when you don't love yourself you attract the wrong people. Furthermore, if you don't love yourself, you tend to hang onto the wrong people and situations because you don't realize what you really are. Loving yourself = believing you deserve more and seeking it. It's a wonderful way to live.

Yes. If we cannot accept ourselves completely and love ourselves, then we cannot truly love another. We can say we care about others all we want and unless we know how to care about ourselves, then how can we honestly say that we care about anyone else?
