I can't remember how old I was when I started shaving my legs, but my daughter is almost 11 and will start 6th grade this fall is this a good age for her to start since she will be going into the 6th grade

When she feels that the hair on her legs, and/or under her arms is an issue for her. Some times there is peer pressure. If other girls in her classes are doing it she may feel it is time for her to start.

If she is not aware yet, then it is not an issue.

It also depends on what her hair growth is like---fine, or coarse, dark or light. It really is a personal decision.

I think that's the perfect age. As long as you explain to her that once you start doing it you can't stop, I think it's a good idea. 6th grade is a good age because shaving will make her feel a little older and taking the "feeling older" thing in small steps is a good idea! (You don't want to wait until she is 14 and all of these things come about at once.) So, as long as she is prepared I'd say it's a great time for her to start.

I started shaving the summer before 6th grade. Well I did it once before when I was about 9 yr old.. only cause I seen my mom do it. But she decided to let me shave before I started Junior high school. I had just turned 11 yrs old.

That's when I started shaving. Remind her that once you start shaving, you really can't stop. The hair gets darker and coarser. I do remember being in gym class though at that age and having to change in the locker room and everything and I was blonde so you didn't see it as much, but you still saw it. Also, at that age they are just wanting to grow up and get out of the akward stage. you could let her grow up in differnt ways as well. Give her a little bit more responsibility. Talk to her about it. It's great she came to you about it though. You can tell you're a great parent.

When I was in sixth grade, Gosh...well, PE was hard because I was the only girl with hairy legs...all the others shaved. Apart from some of my friends, though. I got used to it, and no-one noticed. When I was 13 I started shaving...

I started in the 5th grade but I have really dark hair and it was very noticable. My mom wasn't going to let me but I told that I have been picked on because of my legs. . . I need to shave right now.

If she is the type that would ask you i would probably wait until she does. If she is not that type then i would let her start sometime during the summer before 6th grade.I think it might be a good idea to let her use veet! Its definatly alot easier then shaving with a razor

She should start shaving when there is a lot of hair growth on her legs and her underarms. I started when I was 13 because my leg hair was getting darker and more coarse. I am not too fond of letting a child start shaving when they are not in their teens, but, hey, why should you care about what I think?

I didnt start till i was 15, but i had blonde hair and no one noticed. on the other hand my friends who had dark hair needed to start shaving around 5-6th grade. I think if she wants to and needs to then she is at the perfect age to start.

That is a great age. That is when i started shaving. Dont make her wait any longer. She will bug you about it like i did till you say it is okay. That is a great age!!!
but remind her once you start there is NO stopping, because the hair gets thicker and coarser and prickly. talk to her eabout to make sure that is what she really wants to do. but 11 is great

:)
