I used to be a VB and asp developer and know something about MS Sql server and RDBMS as I did Computer Science BSc and am MCSD qualified but I have been out of IT for 4 years and want to re-enter in Oracle as a DBA.

rather then a certification, which is a nice idea, but not quite what you need, because you already have academic background, you might simply want to go to Oracle Technical Network (formerly http://otn.oracle.com now http://www.oracle.com/technology/index.html ), create yourself an account and download the latest Oracle Database 10g (or Express Edition, if you want to cut corners...). and install it on your home PC. Oracle Database 10g only comes (free) for Linux, but the XE version also comes on Windows (XP SP2 is fine). also check out Oracle's documentation, especially the «2 day DBA» guide (p/n B10742-03).
after some good hands on, and possibly adding some voluntary work in your neighborhood (public library, voluntary organization, aso.) won't get a five digit salary, but it'll put you back in touch w/ database administration and, depending on your experience until 4 yrs ago, back on track.

good luck!
