I recommend going to a local nursery. Tell them what you're looking for. (evergreen, flowering, shade-loving, edible, scented, tall for screening, ground covers, low-maintenance, etc).

They will most likely carry most of what does well in your area, and they can steer you to the things that will fit the bill. Plus...walking around and looking at all fun plants in person is enjoyable - and can tell you things about the plants that you can't get from pictures.

Better Homes and Gardens site, and BBC Gardening, have suggested plant profiles. You just put in the size type (evergreen or deciduous) , height colour and flowers and it gives you a list of suggested plants. The trick is to read the description of where the plant grows well, eg well drained or moist site if that sounds like your place put it on the lists if not give it a wide berth.

optimistic bypass forward and plant the roses. they are going to be advantageous. in basic terms make optimistic to water them exact so their roots get common. I artwork at a wholesale nursery in N.C. and our optimal busiest time of the 300 and sixty 5 days is autumn and spring. The plant shouldnt be sressed out plenty the two via employing actuality it somewhat is cooler now. If shrubs and wood are planted indoors the summertime it somewhat is annoying becouse it is so heat. in basic terms make optimistic to water, you ought to opt to water the roses in deep. that way the roots enhance further down into the floor, which makes an more desirable suitable common plant.

There's no one site, but there are different sites depending on what you are hoping to learn.

Try this: Go to google and type in what you are looking for, then "site:edu" without the quoites. This will give you all the research sites without the commercial ones that will lie to you.

Try checking with your local County extension office. They can be very good at telling you what will do well in your area.
