I'm almost 19 weeks pregnant, and I say I'm pretty small and really not showing yet. I do have a baby bump. Some people say it looks like I'm going to carry low so I'm going to have a boy.. and some people say my belly is too small for a pregnant woman who's almost 19 weeks(4 months-3 weeks I believe) so I'm going to have a girl since girls tend to show really late. Also they say if your belly is pointy you will have a boy and if it's oval looking it will be a girl.... I'm not due for an ultra sound for another two weeks... Could someone please share their stories regarding these old wives tales... also tell me if people are guessing then turn out to be wrong.

If you get a lot of fat on your back and butt, it is a girl. If you are just big in front, its a boy.
But then again.........I could be wrong.....

I wouldn't believe any of those old wive's tales!! I'm carrying low this time, and she's a girl! I carried my son high all through my first pregnancy!
Also, my belly is quite pointy this time!
The only old wive's tale that worked for me was using a pendant, a precious stone on a string and holding it over my belly, watching which way it swings. We did that when I was about 4 months, and it predicted a girl, it was right!!

Old wive's tales always have a 50% chance of being correct. There's really no basis to them, but it's fun to try to guess.
I'm carrying high, and I took a while to show - I'm having a girl. So for me, the old wive's tales you mentioned are right.
Another interesting one is the Chinese gender calendar. It was right for me, and for all 3 of my friend's kids. You can find it online if you search "Chinese gender prediction" or something similar.

well, my whole pregnancy i've carried low... and im having a girl. the only old wives tale that went along with my baby was the "if the heartbeat is over 140 its a girl, and under that its a boy". I didnt believe it, but I am having a girl... thats the only one that went along with my pregnancy...every other one said i was having a boy...and its obvious in my ultrasound that its a girl...so, as theyre called, they are JUST old wives tales... I always believed the one about the heartbeats! It was true for all 3 of my kids. The slower heartbeat means a boy, the higher one means a girl.
That stupid Chinese gender prediction chart was wrong with all 3 of mine. With my boys - I gained a lot of weight, but with my girl - all of my weight was baby, water, etc.
I hardly ever got morning sickness with my boys, but with my girl, I actually lost weight during the first trimester.
It's fun to do the tests and keep track - keep everyone guessing!

I think a lot of it goes on what you are feeling. a lot of times it's like you already know!
I wouldnt listen too much to the other people... they dont know! try to wait as patiently as possible til you go for the u/s! good luck!

it's all crap. there is no way to externally tell what gender of child you are going to have.
