I would just send them a card (maybe a humorous one) with a gift card inside to someplace they love to go eat or shop; no one should be able to say no to that!
Cheers!! :)

I am a person that hates celebrating birthdays... that doesn't mean I don't like a surprise... even if they think they hate them, the right surprise will usually make them happy...
I don't like to celebrate birthdays because it's depressing and I'm just not a party kind of person... maybe he/she is the same!
Take them a favorite food, invite them out to dinner or a movie, offer to rent a movie and hang out... or if it's someone close to you, a few "favors" never hurt ;).
Good luck!

After years of having huge parties and inviting everyone, I don't enjoy celebrating my birthday like that anymore, either. I feel like I'm just telling everyone to get me a gift.
However, I do still enjoy a nice evening out with my friends. My best friend and I go out to dinner every year to a restaurant we don't get to very often and have a really nice time.
A lot of people who don't "celebrate" their birthday still enjoy being acknowledged and remembered. I guess I'm just old enough to be content with only being special to people who are special to me.

The best you can do is ignore the day. IF they don't like celebrating don't force it on them. This is from personal experience. I just perfer to forget the day, treat it like any other day.

Why don't they celebrate? If it's because of a religious belief, respect that.
If you really want to do something, make a donation to their favorite charity in their name.

ask them to join you for lunch or some other casual meal. No mention of birthday - just spend quality time with them.
