When I was 18 and I was in the Marines. I didn't have much of a celebration there but it made me realize how much love and appreciation I have for my family.

my last birthday when I turned 18...I had to go in to school but when I walked in the classroom all my friends starting singing happy birthday, gave me a huge cake and loadsa presents...my dad paid for me to get my hair done in a really expensive hair salon after school. I got to get dressed up and then that evening I had a meal at this really posh restaurant with my whole family. my birthday was on a wednesday but at the weekend I went out with my friends to a concert where I had front row tickets and got to see one of my favourite bands mcfly play live. I was on tv for it as well lol...it was such a brilliant birthday, easily my best :D oh and since I turned 18, I played the lottery for the first time and won €5 lol :P

When I turned 14 and finally got to have my own party. My sister and I were born 364 days apart, so we always had one party - and almost everyone got us the same thing in different colors (to this day I hate pink), or worse, they got us something to share.
To this day I never do that to anyone else - especially kids! And I always seperate birthdays from any Holiday they fall on. My stepmom was born on Christmas and she didn't get a real birthday party until she was an adult!

My then two year old daughter (15 next month) suprised me by bringing me a rock and a piece of yellow yarn on a breakfast tray and singing 'Happy Birthday'. I will never EVER forget it.
