Siamese fighting fish, also known as bettas, actually make fine additions to community tanks. They are very territorial, but only towards other bettas - they tolerate (and mostly ignore) other fish, as long as they don't resemble other bettas (for example, some bettas may flare a little bit at guppies with very long tails).

However, 22 litres is a little more than 5 gallons, which is not that big. What else do you have in your 22 litre tank? If you have room for your betta, then by all means add him - but if your 22 litre tank already has many fish in it (ie more than 3 small fish), then you might want to keep him in his smaller tank.

If you do add to the 22 litre tank, he might freak out at first, but he should calm down in a week.

A male is fine with other fish and females of it's own kind but be certain that there are no long finned varieties that it will mistake for other male bettas! People think the name means they fight everything but it isn't the case, they will fight to the death with other male bettas only! In that sized tank though you will be in danger of over-stocking if the tank already has a population that at adult lengths is more than 20 cms! If it's a hexagonal tank the length should be reduced by 5 cms!

A fighter fish will only fight with other males so it should be ok in your other tank, the only fish you should not put fighters with are guppys as they are so colourful it can confuse the fighter into thinking there is another male in the tank!
Moving a fish into a bigger tank is always a good thing just make sure you have lots of plants and rocks for the fish to hide behind as it will take them some time to get used to there new environment.

You should be fine putting your betta in with the other fish as long as they don't have "showy" fins. However, I do want to point out that your tank isn't that big. So keep the number of fish low. If your only worry was if the betta would attack the other fish just because it's call a fighting fish, no worries, they tend to fight other male bettas.

It al depends on if the other tropical fich are dominant or not. The male siamese will become the dominant in the tank. Sometimes it works, other times the beta will chase your fish around and on rare occasions attack them. I've seen it happen. It's just the luck of the draw, I would mix them and see what happens for a week or two.

You didn't mention what other types of fish you had, but as a general rule one Betta(Siamese fighting fish) to a community aquarium is fine. The only place there maybe any issues at first will be, your Betta may nip at the fins of any fish with longer fins such as guppies and any fish with "veil-tailed" in it's name. Like I said, just at first if you have a little patience he should stop after about two days.

a number of those solutions are way off! numerous myths going on! Come on human beings, previously you answer incorrect do a touch study!!! Betta's are very non violent fish while stored in a community. yet they could desire to be housed with different non violent fish that are no longer fin nippers and don't have long flowing fins. you may desire to by no skill positioned Angels with Betta's. no rely how small they are. Angelfish are aggressive and could kill the Betta while they get greater. Betta's can no longer swim speedy adequate to flee via their large heavy fins. i might positioned money into a minimum of a 2.5 gallon heated, and filtered tank for the Betta.

I would like to add that the types of fish that I have had in a community tank with my bettas have included:

1. Fancy guppies
2. All variety of tetras
3. three spot Gouramis
4. corydora catfishes
5. Plecostomus
6. Angelfish

don't put bettas in tanks that have "nippy" fishes:
1. zebras
2. barbs
3. mollies

This list is not all inclusive. These are just the fish I have personal experience with.
