Check your processor it might be fried so stop trying to restart your comp before you loose everything. Processors are about $65 but if it fried it's either because your comp fan is out or full dirt and lint..

usb will still 'flash' unless the power switch is off, sometimes a charge will remain in the pc, enough to make the small led's light up for a while.
i take it there is absolutely no action at all when you connect power? (as in, fans turning etc)
if this is the case, i would aim towards power supply rather than mobo/cpu failure.
this might sound wierd, but i had a tower that would refuse to start every now and then, i found that by removing the power lead from the tower and pushing it back in, sometimes several times, then eventually it would start.
did you close the pc down correctly before you switched it off....might be worth taking a look at the fuse in the power supply, usually screwed in at the back of the supply.
some towers have an on/off switch at the back of the supply, this can be quite easy knocked into the off position.

If you have connected all the necessary parts then the PC should work, it's recommended that you follow the shut down procedure. Could there be a problem with a loose connection in the new motherbord, or possibly a damaged screen.

I had the same problem .
I thought it was my battery as it wasn't charging.
So i rang Dell they came out to my laptop with a new power cable no joy but the battery did charge.
They also got me a new motherboard at the same time and it still didn,t work.
So then they fetched another one the next day(still no joy) .
Then the next day it was third time lucky we got another mother board and the processer it then worked.
I have since bouhgt a new lap top as it went funny again but with a different problem.

Just a question but does your monitor light up properly? It's just that mine throws a wobbly sometimes and I think my PC isn't on, when all I have to do is take out the monitor power plug and put it back in again.

This has happened to me a couple to times. To prevent any data loss remove you HDD first. I recommend that you take it to a computer specialist as it is too expensive to add parts without knowing what is wrong. I lost a brand-new motherboard and its predecessor due to a single faulty power supply.

Get a new mouse. Use the new motherboard and this time unplug EVERYTHING from the power and disconnect EVERYTHING from the cpu.
