I am thinking about buying an Ipod Nano 4Gb.
I wanted to know what you think of this.
Are the Ipods good?
Is it ok if i buy it off the net?
Is the Ipod Nano better value than the ipod mini?
Where can i buy the ipod Nano cheaply?
Thanks

well ipods are very good for three main reasons.
- Trustworthy, apple based
- portable, efficient, good looking
- great sound quality, and easy transfer of files

Canada is the best country to buy ipods, at $144 only. Or singapore. Get a second hand one if you can, they're way cheaper.

Now the model you want to buy depends on your requirements.
A photo ipod can store data, photos, a lot of files.
A video ipod (30gb and 60 gb) can store videos, lots of formats, movies etc. the new impod mini clip is compact, easy to use , but the shuffle means you dont get a display.
hope that helps, mate
Peace,
Mi

the ipod mini is discontinued. Apple had a lot battery problems with the mini. The nano is up to generation 2. The nano can store both music and photos. The nano can not display videos. If you just want something for music than the nano is a good choice. I have over 200 songs on mine and I don't think it's even half full yet.

The disadvantage to the ipods is that you are have to use iTunes, not that iTunes is that bad. The ipods will not play protected WMA files, so you can't use one of those all the songs you can download for $15/month accounts from places like Napster or Rahpsody.

I've had a 4gb version 1 nano for over a year, no problems at all. My wife had a 2gb nano that died. My kids both had ipod minis - both of those died (battery). I'd strongly recommend getting the apple care package if you buy from Apple or get the replacement warranty if you get it from a place like Best Buy. Under no circumstance would buy a refurbished one. You won't find a bargain on a new iPod, if you do there is a catch.

Keep in mind that iPods/iTunes use music files that are acc format by default. If you go the iPod route, your locked into Apple or your going to be in for a long painful process of converting you music over to a different format - for say a Rio player. iPods/iTunes will play/recognize other formats, just not protected mode WMA.

It's excellent if you don't have much songs. It's small and light. Works great.
