Very very few citizens of the US know about that stuff, so, yes, the impression of most is "We help people all over the world and defend democracy; why do so many people hate us?"
(I've seen this said on this very site more times than I can say; I usually respond by giving examples. Some people go "WOW I didn't know any of that" others just insult me.)
It isn't that our ideals are a lie, it's that people just don't realize all the horrible things done with their tax money and in their name.
As I say, many are bewildered at the anti-US sentiment.
Some of them conclude it must be irrational, since it makes no sense to them.
A few just don't care; but they're relatively few.
It's the government and media who lie -- the citizens themselves wouldn't have accepted those kinds of actions, had they only known.

Don't foget the King-Pin...BUSH..on 911 he killed about 3,000 of his own people and then killed another 4,000 people for a war of freedom...I mean weapons of mass destruction.
Our goverment has been bad for a long time and it is about time that we (THE AMERICAN PEOPLE) take back what is ours before these greedy crack head get to take all of our freedom away.
Stand up and take what is ours...It is not goverments in the first place, we should ecide if congress should get a raise or not. Hell give me a job where I can give myself a raise anytime I want too...Yeppie
Well back to the real world...I will work 3 jobs just to make it, give up my freedom because terrorist.
While I am on that subject...The goverment said that there were 16 terrorist, but six of them is still alive today, so how did they highjack a plane and flew it into a building and survived???
Also where is the plane that hit the pentergon??? It is not inside or outside, so how does a 60 tons plane dissappear?
Maybe we should ask David Coppfiled for the secret.
But the most distubing question is why did the FBI went to a local hotel and a gas station and took all the videos from Dept of Trans, instead of helping all thoses people that were n the building? Just like the 300 police and firemen did in NYC.
Our goverment is corrupt and we need to stop them before another person is killed for their greed!!!
Watch a video called "In Plane Site" and you will ask some of these questions too...
Its' We The People...not Them!!!!!

American aid isn't nearly enough when you take in to account our gross domestic product. That line of thinking is one of the reasons why we are hated in the world. Third world countries don't owe us gratitude, and we aren't really throwing around gobs of money to begin with in the first place.
We Americans are very knowledgeable about everything. Though, our principal concern is ourselves. We have nice pretty backyards, and we drive around from place to place in our nice spacious cars. We generally want to do the right thing, but sometimes that new big screen television can impair our vision. And, if we do help out, then it was because we are so wonderful, not because we should be grateful for what we have, or we like doing good things.
There are some of us, the really rich ones, who have grand schemes. They're real forward thinkers, more so then the rest of the world. Yeah, some of their methods may seem dubious, but they figure the ends justify the means.
When it comes to world affairs, our policies must take precedence over any other. A lot of our allies are complacent to follow this, (United Kingdom) so they are our friends. Although some of our friends seem fairly nefarious (Saudi Arabia, Pakistan, China); they have a lot of things to offer, and are willing to give us what we want. There are certain problems that can be overlooked when we chose our allies. We don't really have to confront them, it's best to leave it alone.
But, if a country has nothing to give us, we don't care (Rwanda-black people), unless we try to make it look like we care (Kosovo- white people), even though we still don't care (Sudan). But, if they have something we want and aren't willing to work with us, well, then, they are **** out of luck. We won't talk to them (Iran). We'll refer to them as evil (Iran). We'll possibly invade them (Iraq, Iran next), maybe even try to oust them covertly by supporting a coup (Venezuela?).
Basically, our principles and lofty ideals are sometimes too rigid and inflexible. In the end though, we are doing what's right for the world. We are the moral crusaders. God is on our side.

Sometimes it is necessary to support those that are not caring for the people but in some way their being allowed to continue is safer than eliminating them. Not every action the US takes is perfect. The perfect person does not live on earth. Fighting the Taliban and insurgents in Iraq is being done to protect civilians but the turmoil has been turning into infighting and that the US cannot control.

If we are does that de-legitimize us as a united states of america? Is the Roman Empire no longer remembered in a greater useful easy than damaging for the actuality that it replaced into violently expansionist on the comparable time it replaced into imaginitive politically and in terms of engineering and in any different case?

One has only to look around to see the truth. Repressive policies, a penchant for secrecy, seemingly endless war while trumpeting peace, ala Orwell, can leave no one in doubt as to the truth, exept those that do not wish to see it in the first place. Literally thousands of new "laws" have been made, not to serve you and I, for they do not apply to us, but to protect those that would rape our country, it's people, and it's constitution.
As Tacitus once said, "the more corrupt the government, the more numerous the laws".

The US isn't fighting for freedom.
We're currently fighting for control. Control over other counties, and control over our own population.
Freedom got tossed out a long time ago.
