right now they are in a bad state, their goaltending has been horrible.

If all of the other teams go flat the Habs might squeek into the 8th spot

well the teams like NY Islanders, NY Rangers, Carolina, Toronto and the Montreal Canadiens are all playing poor hockey as of late so when one team wins the other loses then the next game its the other way around so the way it looks it will be a fight till the end. I'm a huge Habs fan and I'm really disappointed on how they've been playing and its like how can a team that was 10 games over .500 and just slump that bad and then stay in the slump for two months. Samsonov a big disappointment and with Kovalev just playing when he fells like it. all these teams i mentioned will be very lucky to make the playoffs and the way there playing there not going to be any surprise like we seen with the Oilers last year cause the Oilers where actually playing playoff hockey in the last two months and were a better team then they where at the start of the season. but none of this teams will make any damage in the playoffs, well simply cause there not build for a long run in the playoffs.

well i still believe the Habs will get one little streak in them and make it to the playoffs other in 7th or 8th.

Jason M>>>>i don't know what experts your talking about but most of them on TSN, Sports Net all predicted 4th in the East and 6th in the NHL overall standings.

GO HABS GO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

it kills me to say it but no... they have had too many problems since christmas and huet's injury just seemed to take the last spark of life out of the team.
all the teams around them are playing mediocre hockey and the habs can hardly keep pace.

that said it shouldn't come as a surprise since most of the 'experts' predicted a 10th place finish at the start of the year. lucky for us we got to experience a really great run for the first half of the year and enjoyed alot of excitement.

despite all that - 'it ain't over till it's over' and the habs faithful will keep hope till the end.

GO HABS GO!

Habitant - the presse and journal de montreal both predicted a final position out of the playoffs (they of course flip-flopped throughout the season based on performance). TSN's hockey pool special ranged from a 4th place to 10th place finish depending on the commentator. and the team 990 published a hockey pool special that had the habs finishing 12th i believe. obviously, every outlet had their own opinion but i think we can agree that everyone was sceptically of montreal's chances based on many uncertainties, some of which played out badly.

no, I don't think so. The Leafs will make it, hopefully. with huet injured, the habs' chances are slim. i mean, souray is good and all, but...and with so many teams vying for a spot...carolina, rangers, i think the chances are slim even for the leafs. no, they're not gonna make it, in my opinion.

My attention to the Habs is minimal this year but if Huet is out and Aebischer is your main goalie... no.
