i can name two right now:
mozart's "lacrymosa" piece from requiem
and the double bass "solo" by Lars Ulrich on the song "One" by Metallica

I am a metalhead from WAY back, yet I listen to all sorts of music. To that ends, I would have to say that my favorite piece of music would be the Vivaldi Four Seasons pieces.

That's pretty hard to answer. I'd say "Thus far" because there may be something better coming out in the future. "The Fat Lady" hasn't sung yet!
For now I'd say, "Two Horizons" by Moya Brennan. I love everything about it - the melodies/harmonies/ lyrics/message.
A close second is "The Rainbow Connection"

Eine Alpinsinfonie (the alpine symphony) by Richard Strauss!!!!! It is a 45 minute out of body experience.
