I have an upgraded processer for my hp pav 6830mx, can I just install the chip and run the machine or do i have to upgrade my ram as well? Is there anything else I should be aware of?

yes you can do it without upgrading the ram but more ram will increase the performance of your pc

1. You will also need some chip grease or thermal compound. You will notice the grease from your old CPU(assuming your reusing the heatskink). It's the grease you apply between the cpu and heatsink to help keep the CPU cool.
2. Also, Electrostatic discharge can fry your CPU, so you need to discharge any static before you touch your computer, discharge it on metal(nice spark).
