The Battle of Britain and Operation Overlord I think were both WW2 airfights. I'm not 100% sure though but I would check both of those out.
Why not also do a search on www.bbc.co.uk - they have a brilliant history section!

the german word for air force is luftwaffe. try searching WW 2 luftwaffe
