Terry Sawchuck finished his NHL career with a record 103 shutouts, and was the all-time wins leader with 447 until Patrick Roy, with 551 wins, Martin Brodeur, currently with 487 wins, and Ed Belfour, currently with 479 wins, surpassed him in the new millenium. Also, Curtis Joseph is moving up the career wins list, with 443 wins, which puts him within striking distance of Sawchuk's 447, which would make him the 4th player to pass Sawchuk in the last 7 years in career wins. However, of all these players listed, Martin Brodeur, with 92 career shutouts, is the only one close to Sawchuk's record of 103.

Terry Sawchuk 103. And remember he did most of it in the six-team NHL, every team loaded with shooters, with 70 games, far smaller equipment, pads that soaked up melted ice and got heavier throughout the game. He once had five shutouts in eight playoff games
