my great aunt, turned 99 in January
she gets around just fine, but went blind in her 70's and now needs help... she learned to read Braille and reads the bible in the nursing home to her friends who can't read... although she visits the nursing home, she is not a resident there, she lives with her sister, my 80 year old grandmother, and they take care of each other.... on numerous occasions members of our family has had to go to the nursing homes to pick her up because they confuse her with the patients! she thinks that is really funny!

Although he is gone now, the oldest person I personally have known was a week short of his 105th birthday.
My mother who is 96 this June is still around and doing pretty good considering her age.
My wife's mother will be 92 also in June she still lives alone and does quite well.
