I can find stuff from about 1400's on but little from before. Can anyone give me a link or some info? Men and women, from all walks of life. And who was king before Henry of the Battle of Hastings (1066, which actually took place about 40 miles from Hastings and the town is now called Battle)

there were 3 kings of England between 1065-1066: Edward the Confessor, Harold II, William I (the Conqueror). Basically, William said Edward had promised him the throne; Harold denied/disbelieved/ignored that & its possible validity (depending on the interpretation you read), so William sailed across the Channel and more or less took it. No Henrys for about 20-30 years if I recall rightly--that would have been Henry I, William's youngest son.
Not sure about the clothes; I've seen some good books, altho mostly well-off or noble/royal apparel. Check on Amazon or in your library for titles anyway, or go to the Society for the Creative Anachronism. Renaissance Magazine has a column about making clothes and accessories--check their website to see if they have any archives. Possibly a renaissance faire site might list sources as well--Faires are listed in the magazine as well.
