Howcome in the NBA division leaders are not seeded 1-3 when i look at the standings it looks like leading your division makes no diffrence.Wizards are 5th in their confrence and a divison leader ect

It is that they're seeded 1-3 but it would look weird if the order of the teams was that way. The division leaders are seeded 1-3 but the standings does not show that.

The top three division leaders in each conference is guarenteed a top 4 seeding. If another team has a better record than one of those, it goes ahead of that division leader. For example the top for teams in the east are 1.Detroit, 2.Cleveland, 3.Washington and 4.Toronto. The three division leaders are Detroit, Washington and Toronto since Detroit is in the same division as Cleveland. Cleveland has a better seeding than both Washington and Toronto. because Cleveland has a better record

its based on their records so you don't have a really bad team by record but a division leader getting a 2 or 3 seed and getting blown out by a worse seed but second or third in another division.
