I say Ovechkin, reason being is that he beat crosby in points in there rookie season and crosby had people to work with, ovechkin didnt. ths year, crosby has malkin, staal, gonchar and recchi, ovechkin has semin, if you put more people with ovechkin, he would have about 100-110 points as of right now in the season

That's a very interesting question. As of right now, I would say Crosby. Pittsburg looks committed to building a real team around their duo of Malkin and Crosby. Plus, the Pens also have Staal, Malone, and Fleury. They have a lot of young talent that can become a great team. Washington really isn't doing much to get out of the basement of the Eastern Conference. As a result, Ovechkin has Semin to work with and nothing else. If the Capitals could show some signs of improvment with their draft choices, trades, and management, I would say it could be a close race. I don't see the Capitals really making a push to become a solid team though. DC likes their Redskins and not much else. In all reality, Ovechkin needs to move to another team that can compete with the best teams on a nightly basis in order to stay close to Crosby. I will say, in Ovechkin's defense, that Alexander is able to play the physical game better than Crosby and seems to have a lot prettier individual moves.

I'm going to go with Alexander Ovechkin over Sidney Crosby on this one. While Crosby will prove to be a playmaker extraordinaire in the vain of dare I say...Adam Oates, Ovechkin will get the set-up man he deserves and become the next...Bobby Hull. If he didn't play left wing, I would say that Ovechkin is on the same career path as Mario Lemieux, without the injuries. Over time, a high scoring winger who just needs a talented center to work with is more valuable than a playmaker will above average complementary pieces.

I'd give the edge early on to Crosby. Reason being that Pittsburgh has done an outstanding job in building a tremendous supporting cast around Crosby whereby Washington has left Ovechkin to fend for himself.
Hockey is a team game and the best players will never reach their true potential without a strong team around them.

I believe they will be around even with Ovechkin being a scorer and Crosby a playmaker. It might seem like Ovechkin but check out the supporting casts.

it depends. if the team stays how they are now Crosby because he has much more talent however if Ovechkin would go to a team like detroit ( god willing) then him Zetterberg and Datsyuk would be a great line, So i think Ovechkin would have the better career. Now if they had teh exact same talent around them i would say Ovechkin as he plays more physical and he is a great goal scorer as well as a playmaker. so it really depends on how this all pans out in the future.

Right now you would have to go for Crosby. But the past tells us that right now is not a good time to measure. The reason why I think Crosby has the edge is look at the team around him. Pittsburgh has the groundwork laid to have a good team for the next decade with all of their young talent. Their young players are complete hockey players. That being said, as sad as it sounds its really up to the owners and the GM's of the respective teams. If they decide to always go after top free agents and make trades that help the team instead of dumping salary then both players will have great careers. Crosby has a better chance right now because of the team around him. That being said, hes also a bit more talented at getting more out of his teammates. Hes one of those guys that makes his linemantes better adn his teamates. My vote is for Crosby, but ultimately its in the hands of the owners and GM's. How sad is that in the money stapped NHL these days!!

Crosby hands down. Not only because of his strength, skill, and abilities, but also because of his coaching staff and teammates. Crosby has a great team with both veterans and up-and-coming superstars. Ovechkin robbed Crosby of Rookie of the Year last season and I was highly disappointed. He's already made it to the 100 point plateau this season and no one is even close to beating him. He's simply amazing...and so much fun to watch...especially in person.

Lets' Go Pens!!!

Crosby will for sure. Ovechkin (who I like too) beat Sidney in their "rookie" year in points, but remember Alex was almost 2 years older than Sidney.
This year Alex can't touch Sidney.....now that he's matured...which he has done in the last year...he's far ahead of Alex.
When Ovechkin thinks of Crosby, that song "Can't touch him" must pop into his mind!

ovechkin-he has no1 rite now thats why hes not doing as well as crosby. if the capitals are smart they will get a playmaker to go with ovechkin. alexander semin isnt a playmaker hes a goalscorer so if they get a playmaker to go with that line they will be unstopable but im not saying that the capitals will be good because thats a team that its gonna take years to get back into the playoffs
