I would tell the baby's father first. That's what I planned on doing, but my mom was there when I took the test, so she knew first.

With my first, I was only 17 - I went to my mum - I thought she'd kill me or chuck me out, but she just sort of looked shocked, then said "Where are we going to put the cot?" She was great and supportive all through and after the pregnancy!

This time, me and my partner had been trying for a while - funny thing is, I told my sister first, and I asked her to wait a couple of weeks to make sure everything was OK before telling my mum. She managed to keep her mouth shut even though she was really excited!! Then I told my mum, and she told my dad. It's not that I was scared of telling my dad either time, I've just always been much closer to my mum. (I had already told my partner the day after I found out, it was his birthday!)

This time was great, I didn't need my mum's support and help, just her blessing, which I got, and we're all so happy!

:-)

Tell the baby's father first if you can, then you can both go to your parents. I would've told my dad first, as he was a very understanding and loving person. Most women/girls prefer to go to their mothers though. It really depends on who you're the closest and most comfortable with.

My parents are divorced, and with both pregnancies I called my mom first. There is something special about a mom's daughter having a baby of her own. My mom and I are also closer than my dad and me. I figure if they both find out on the same day, it's pretty much the same.

My husband and I were away visiting his grandparents when we found out, so they were the first to know. The day we came back from the trip we told his parents and mine that we had souvenirs for them. In each bag was a frame that said, "Our Little One" with baby decorations on it and a picture of the positive test strip that said "Guess what?".
