Depends on the type of printer, how old it is, and what OS you are running on right now.

As long as you can power the printer up, and you can plug the printer in to your system, you have a good shot at getting it up and running.

Go to Start-->Settings-->Printers-->Add a printer.

When that opens, select to add a local printer, and automatically detect to plug-and-play. If the printer is not too old, this should find it, and load the drivers for you.

Otherwise, you will need to go to the printer maker's website and see if they have a driver for you.

All you need is Driver for the printer. Download them from the mfg site. Look for the correct one using the full model number.

After download, then turn on the printer. Your computer should be able to locate it.
