Hahaha, the name game stinks. Unfortunately somebody you know will always be able to come up with a rude nickname or will associate it with somebody they hate. My best advice is to only discuss it with your hubby until the baby is born. That way when the two of you can FINALLY agree on something you won't have other people ruining your delight! I've had several friends & family members name their kids names I didn't like, but once the baby was born it didn't matter any more. It'll grow on everyone. My hubby and I picked a name months early, and ended up changing it last minute anyway.
And if it's any consolation, I like the name Reese Elizabeth.

I think Reese is very cute. As for your question are you setting her up to get picked on for life, I really wouldn't let that be a factor in your decision. Most of the time if someone wants to poke fun of you or your name they are going to find a way regardless of what your name is. The only problem I would have is if you had a last name that could some how make your childs first name have an honary meaning that is when I would take the getting picked on thing into factoring my baby's name (example-I work with a guy who has the last name ball and he said they nick named there son Harry Ball). You should go with Reese if you like it forget what your friend said, it's your baby and name and all you know what is best for her!! Good luck!!

Oh, I love that name so much. I don't think of the peanut butter, I think of Reese Witherspoon--and let's face it, she's gorgeous! And the brand Reese's was obviously named after a person at one time. I would stick with it, it's so adorable. My daughter's middle name is also Elizabeth, so I like that too :) Good luck!

Nah, you're not setting her up for life. No matter what you name your child, some other little kid will come up with some way to harass her by making a rhyme or some other way to embarass her. Don't stress too much about it. If you and your husband are happy with it, go with it. You might be able to deter some of those "nicknames" by telling your family seriously (after they make a joke like that) that you expect there to be no nicknames. Trust me, say it the first time someone makes a joke and they won't joke any more. The other thing you could consider is not sharing the name before the baby is born. People always have their own opinions and some you probably won't want to hear. After the baby is born, those comments are less likely to occur. Good luck!

I like Reese, but not Elizabeth with it. Uncommon and common together. How about Reese Summer, Reese Lyn, Reese Fay, Reese Casey, Reese Fawn, Reese Dawn, Reese Evelyn,

When you said Reese, the first thing that came to mind was Reese Witherspoon (the movie star).
While I'm all for novel names, I'm reluctant to name my kid anything that might have a celebrity connotation.
But this is your kid, not mine. In the future, should someone make some stupid comment about candy, say "Yeah, she's going to be sweet as can be!" Or you can say, "No, not like the candy, like the actress." Or something like that.

reese is a pretty and unique name. maybe kids will be smarter than your friend and realize that the candy is reeses, not reese. in any case, if someone really wants to they will find something to pick on for just about any name, so just pick something that makes you and your husband happy, and that you will feel comfortable yelling across a room for years to come! good luck with the rest of your pregnancy and your new baby!!!

I think that it's a beautiful name. It's not a very common name and I don't think people are going to think of the candy right away when they here it. If they do, peanut butter is actually kind of a cute nick name.

I think some good names are maybe Simone, Candice, Lillian, Renee, Naomi, Victoria, . It really depends on what you as parents would like to call you daughter. You'll find a name soon. Or you can try and make a unique name for her and see if your name and your husbands name can make a name for her. At lease you would know that you agreed on it instead of disagreeing. I hope I was some help.

People here, kiss your rear (trying to get 10pts).. but in fact Reese, years from now will be remembered more for candy than Ms. Witherspoon.. (she's already disappearing, like actresses do after winning Best Supporting). Why not name her after a family member -- like an aunt or grandmother and extend family legacy?
