The boundary conditions are the starting or initial conditions usually encountered when one is trying to solve a differential equation.

Examples
Consider a metal square where one side is connected to a heat source with temperature T. This temperature represents a boundary condition. Another example of a boundary condition is when two different dieclectrics are connected, the e-field at the boundary must be the same. Etc
