i really need one for school, since i have to do a lot of typing, and we have a school website, where all of our homework is listed. i know they can afford it ( we live in westin, connecticut, and own 7 houses) also, everybody else has one!! HELP!!

Since you are obviously low income, you should consider applying for the "one laptop per child program."
BTW not buying something for you != not letting you get it.

Dont take this the wrong way, but simply because they can afford it doesnt make you entitled to it.
Now that my preaching is out of the way...
Have you shown them everything that is available online regarding school?
The next time you have a major project due, try to do as much of it online as possible. This will show them that you intend to actually use it for school.
If you are going to college soon, use that as a reason for getting one. Using a laptop in a college classroom has become very normal to see, and is VERY useful.
If all else fails, look into getting a job for a month. Even a part time job would allow you to purchase a nice laptop in a short amount of time.

why do you need a laptop? If the issue is doing your homework then GO TO THE LIBRARY and use their computers.If you MUST have a laptop show your parents that not only are you able to use a computer with proficiency but that you are willing to CONTRIBUTE to the cost of it as well .You must also realize that you will need a wireless card and the service that goes along with it and tell your parents that you are willing to PAY for that monthly service as well.This will work with your parents as long as you have a job to be able to afford this.After all, a job SHOWS that you are on the road to being responsible and that you are willing to spend money earned from that job on something that you really want.

Since you're able to come on to this website you have access to a computer and thus you don't really need a laptop.
Just because someone has money doesn't mean that it automatically means they will share it in a unregulated way. My parents are well off (and yes, like you, own multiple houses in multiple countries), but they still told me to get a job to buy my own things when I was in high school.
You don't really need one. Now if you WANT one, go get a job and pay for it yourself.

If you have a home computer then you don't need one, however, if you don't have one and it's just a matter of cost, then suggest to them that they check out a computer show and sale. You can get good deals, or buy a used one. You don't NEED a laptop unless your school specifically asks for you to have one, which is VERY rare as most schools have computers.

Doesn't your school already have computers for student use. And you can check your homework on the school web site on the desktop PC that your parents own. When teenagers own their own laptops they are just asking to be beatup and the laptop stolen.

Why don't you ask them if you can do some choers or something and actually earn it? My parents always made me work for what they bought me. Also, if you are old enough you could try getting a job and paying for it yourself.
