Packing for Two
For Yourself
A nightgown or big shirt to wear during labor, although a hospital gown will be provided
Socks
Washcloths and towels
Slippers
A few nightgowns, pajamas or T-shirts and sweat pants (breastfeeding mothers might find loose-fitting T-shirts or nursing gowns most comfortable)
A robe
Several pairs of underpants
Large, self-adhesive sanitary pads (the ones provided by the hospital may be small and hard to use)
Soap
Shampoo
Hairbrush
Toothbrush and toothpaste
Any other toiletries, cosmetics or hairstyling equipment you want
Phone numbers for people you want to call
A telephone charge card (you usually can’t use a cell phone in a hospital)
Clothes to wear home (be sure they are loose fitting)
For Your Baby
Most hospitals provide the basics for newborns during their hospital stay: a knit cap, an undershirt, diapers and blankets. When it comes time to take the baby home, you’ll need your own things.
A receiving blanket
Clothes to wear home, including an undershirt, cap and socks
Disposable diapers (most hospitals provide these)
Bunting or a warm blanket if it’s cold outside
A car seat (if baby is to be driven home)

You:
You will probably be about the size you were at 4 months pregnant after you deliver, so bring something that size you can wear home from the hospital. That includes underwear. You'll be wearing extra large pads for the bleeding.
Slippers with non skid bottoms and a robe (you will most likely have to walk a bit before you can be released from the hospital).
Unless you are worried about looking "pretty" for any guests, I would leave the nice gowns at home. You bleed a lot after delivery, so you might bleed through onto your gown. I just wore the hospital gowns.
Toiletries
Camera
A list of contacts for your hubby to call and announce the news.
Baby:
An outfit for their pictures - if you plan on getting them taken in the hospital.
An outfit to go home in.
Onsies
Booties
Gowns or pajamas
Blankets (Bring at least 4 receiving blankets. You may need a couple of them to help fit the baby in the carseat. Most infant carriers are too big for newborns. Receiving blankets can be rolled up and used to help better secure the newborn in the infant carrier. Someone from the hospital should inspect your carseat and make sure the baby is properly installed before you leave.)

Bring your own pillow, socks you like, movies (if you have a VCR or DVD player in your room), snacks you like, toothbrush, toiletries, something for you to wear home from the hospital, infant car seat, and an extra baby blanket if it will be cold out. Pretty much the hospital will give you a blanket for the baby, a shirt, a hat, a pacifier, enough diapers for your stay (and wipes), formula and nipples, and a new diaper bag. Check with your hospital to find out what they provide. Lists are available online if you really want to be thorough. Babycenter.com has one. Most pregnancy books offer a guide also. I found that I didn't need most of the stuff I brought with and wished I had brought more food. Luckily, my husband went out and brought some back. If you forget anything, your visitors will be very glad to bring things to you.

I took to the hospital. . .
A robe (they give you a gown)
slippers/slipper socks
brush/comb
toothbrush
clothes to go home in (I took some very loose shorts and a large t-shirt - I gave birth in August)
camera
an outfit for the baby to go home in
blanket
carseat for the baby
a large clothes basket (to take home all of the gifts/items given to you/baby)
I didn't need a lot, for they give you the pads and those disposable undies for the after stuff, and the baby has plenty of blankets and a hat for in the hospital. They also have diapers for the baby. I overpacked (as usual) because I took everything on a list I found in a book. I didn't need near all of the stuff that they listed. The amount of personal care items will depend on if you care if people see you with "bedhead" or not. I am not one to really care, and with all I had just gone through, a brush and comb was enough for me.
Good luck!!

You don't need much. An outfit for the baby to come home in, including a blanket. An outfit for you to come home in (something that fit when you were about 5 months pregnant - sorry). Any prescription meds that you're on. Contact lens stuff if you wear them. Toothbrush, toothpaste, hairbrush, etc. All the toiletries you'd take for any overnight. I'm taking a pair of sweats that I bought HUGE so they'd be comfy. Oh, and you want to take some slippers or slipper socks, because hospitals are cold. Maybe a bottle of lotion, too, because hospital air tends to be dry.
That, and the stuff you normally carry in your purse, will be plenty.

I know EXACTLY how you feel. I just started 37 weeks and I'm so miserable! When I packed my bag, I put clothes for me to wear home, a nigh gown to wear if I dont have to wear the hospital gown, slipper socks for walking around, cards, camera, 2 pairs of undies (just in case I dont like the ones they provide), bra, hair brush, make up, deoderant, tooth brush, tooth paste, a magizine, shower gel, and a little bag for my jewelry. Then I packed a diaper bag for the baby, that has a couple diapers, wipes, 2 outfits, a few recieving blankets, lotion, binkies, nasal aspirator, and a little travel thing of wipes. I packed my bag a few days after finding out I was dialated... but I am SO ready now to head out the door with them... its just a waiting game now! lol. Good luck with everything and God bless!!

I would take, a pony tail if you have longer hair like me lol, some deoderant, shampoo and conditioner, a change of clothes (something comfy to leave the hos in), a sleeper for the baby, an outfit to wear home for baby, possibly a hat depending on the temps there, a few blankets ( like two recieving blankets and one heavy one) and his or her car seat. They wont let you leave the hos without the carseat in the hos room. Camera or video camera or both :), list of people to call when you have the baby, a bottle or two, pacifier, and thats about all i would take :) goodluck and congrats!!!

no in no way, you may by no skill be too arranged for labour, the final ingredient you opt for to be doing while labour starts is dashing around mindlessly throwing issues right into a bag and then in a while in labour worring approximately in case you and your toddler have each thing you opt for! I even have continually packed my medical institution bag at 35 weeks and that i replaced into happy because of the fact for a pair of week when I had packed what i presumed replaced into each thing i wished, different issues might all promptly pop into my head and then i went into labour at 37 weeks. i might say now's a large time to %. your medical institution bag as additionally i continually locate merely after 35 weeks i start up nesting, cleansing each thing in sight and washing each and all the toddler clothing and bedding, so its perfect to have each thing arranged properly in strengthen and that i've got a tendency to take a seat back somewhat greater while i recognize each thing is waiting and that i'm able to easily take a seat decrease back relax and watch for the start of my toddler!

Congratulations on your pregnancy!!! You are going to have a blast with your new little one!!
With both of my pregnancies, i bought travel size shampoo, conditioner, deodorant etc. I also took a nightgown, robe and comfy clothes to go home in. I also brought flip flops for the shower. Books or crossword puzzles are a good idea. The hospital had wireless capabilities, so we brought our laptop too.
For the little one, depending on where you live, bring extra clothes appropriate for the weather. don't forget the carseat, we almost did!!!
