ok...2 to 3 days ago I started getting more frequent braxton hicks contractions at least thats what I think they are, and they are a lot more pronounced. I am 26 weeks and they come and go. Like I had 3-4 in one hour this morning and some were a little painful, the baby is moving less and at diff times. This has been going on for about three days, and I have a docs appt. today, I was just wondering if anyone has ever had this. It's my second pregnancy.

Good luck at your appt. this afternoon. Your doctor will be able to tell you whether these are normal B-H contractions, or something to be concerned about.

I did have a ton of B-H contractions with all six of my pregnancies. Usually they say if you have more than 6 in an hour (approx. every 10 min.), you should call the hospital. I always had them even more often, sometimes every 2-3 minutes for a few hours at a time, but they were too weak and too short (20-30 seconds from start to peak) to cause much trouble. They were mostly just very irritating, and if they kept me from sleeping, a bit exhausting after a while.

Usually the recommendations if you are having them on a regular basis are: to drink lots of fluids because being even mildly dehydrated can cause contractions, and to rest or take a warm bath and see if they slow down/go away.

Best of luck! I hope the appt. goes well. :)

Yep.

Braxton Hicks are more prevelant during the entire third trimester (which you are just about in). It is your body getting itself into shape for the upcoming workout. Your baby will also move around less during this time due to it getting into position.

I had Braxton Hicks during my entire third trimester, and they would come and go. During the last week of my pregnancy I went into the hospital 5 times due to "false labor" because of those pesky things.

Congrats and good luck! If they become consistant in length, and the time apart grows shorter and shorter, and they get more intense as they go along, then contact your doctor.

i am also 26 weeks with my second baby and i notice a lot more braxton hicks than i ever noticed with my first baby, in fact i didn't feel them until 8 or 8 1/2 months with my 1st baby. i think i just know what they feel like this time, so i notice a lot more of them
