Getting tired of hearing how kids fresh out of high school are making more $ than I am when I have two bachelors degrees and a master's degree. Pay should beat $40k/year to be worth my bother.

If you're doing advising, then an easy switch would be into recruiting, HR, or some type of counseling. In some cases, those positions may require further education in order to be considered, but I'm not sure what your bachelors are in to know your background.

Your skills with people and with planning out paths should help a lot in any of those areas. Honestly, look at some of the job requirements for the job boards on your campus and think about the jobs you send your students to (assuming you do as not all academic advisors are asked about how to find a job).

Your other option may be in event planning or even looking at development (fundraising). It would depend on all of the tasks you were asked to do in academic advising because again, not all advisors just advise but need to do event planning and figuring out budgets.

Good luck! Also make sure, honestly, that it's not just for the money. I'm in higher ed. and left the private sector because it wasn't rewarding for me...but those are some of the jobs I did before moving into higher ed.

I keep in mind throughout the 2004 election, Bush blamed Clinton for the 2001 recession besides the certainty that it went into Bush's first term. And did no longer Bush trip on his ranch just about each month? This works the two techniques, dumb*ss.
