I am relocating to Houston and I found an apt complex I may be interested in. They are called the Oaks of Charleston at 16 Charleston Park Dr, Houston, TX 77025. I am from out of town and would like a locals view on the apts and the neighborhhod. Can anyone help me?

South of the loop is recognized in Houston as a problem area; still, by no means, it's not the worst in Houston. Wherever you go in Houston, low rent price sounds a trouble flag. You should directly come out and ask the agent - "what crimes have been reported on property and in the area." If this ends up all you can afford; you might want to pay a little extra and get a 6 month lease.

I wouldn't live in large parts of that zip code, but there are a few small neighborhoods nearer to Stella Link, north of 610, that are safer.

Also, that address didn't come up properly. Are you sure it is correct?

EDIT: I did a web search on the apartment property and got the map location. Despite the Plantation looking photo, the rents they quote indicate that this isn't the best neighborhood. Down by South Post Oak?

Try something closer to the Med Center.

I just looked and saw where these apartments are and I would not recommend these. My parents don't live to far from there and I really wish they'd move. Like the previous answerer said try the Medical Center or even the "Inner Loop" or "Galleria Area". You can search easily for these areas on any apartment search website.

Contact Houston Police Dept. and ask about the call volume at the complex, if you want to know how many major calls they make their, if they have had car jackings or robberies their, I would pass on it.
