You should try David's Bridal they have a great selection of colors and sizes. You can research them online and pretty much get any color you want. You could also try the Nicole Miller store in the Palisades Center Mall, they are a bit pricey but they have some really nice dresses. No you do not sound princessy it is your prom and you should be as particular as you want. You can also look into having your dress made. Good luck and have fun!

Well, think outside the box and get one made. It was the best choice I ever made when I went to my prom. I designed my own gown and had it tailored to fit my every curve! Not only was it hot, but I didn't have to worry about looking like anyone else.
So get some fashion mags and hi-light the details of the dresses you like the best, and get it made. Also, check out tailors in your area, especially those who have experience with bridal wear or the like.
If you're not into designing your own gown, go to a bridal store and shop the bridesmaid's gowns, and have the dress altered by the tailor there.
Good luck!

So I don't know what stores you have around where you live but where I live these stores are good for prom shopping- maybe you have one:
nordstrom, macys(special occasion dept), bloomingdales, saks fifth avenue, neiman marucs, bebe, bcbg, cache, and check little boutiques in your area too, they are more likely to have unique dresses.

I’m not sure what stores are in your area but few places you can try are: JCPenney’s, Carson Pirie Scott, Dillard’s, Macy’s, Lord & Taylor. Also any major dept store in your town should carry prom dresses, that way you can try them on before you buy (I hate buying things w/o trying them on.) Good luck!

Either go to the mall and get a dress there, or go to a dress maker and get one made for you.
