I am 8w2d pregnant after a miscarriage and d&c on Jan 11th (I got pregnant just 2 weeks after). Pregnancy has been progressing fine, saw heartbeat on ultrasound at 6w4d (140 bpm) and everything else fine. Had tiny bit of blood tinged mucus this morning around 7a.m. and then nothing until 1p.m. when there was more blood in mucus and a larger amount (but still not huge). Going to Dr. in one hour to get checked, but nervous. Have one beautiful healthy 3 year old boy- no pregnancy complications.

blood was red (unfortunately) but more mucousy than spotting, if that means anything. I think my biggest fears coming from the fact that my first miscarriage starting out with small amounts of blood and progressively grew. But getting ready to leave for the Dr.'s office. Maybe they can see me a few minutes earlier. Thanks for all the answers.

Thanks to all who gave feedback. Dr.'s visit went well. He did a vaginal exam and said that there was no blood coming through my cervix, but an "atropia" (might have spelled that wrong) on the edge of my cervix that was oozing blood. Sounds gross I know, but he stopped the bleeding and kind of sealed the capillaries on my cervix to prevent any additional blood. He believes that it was caused by having sex last night and should be nothing to worry about. Thanks again and sorry if that was TMI.

For what an anecdote's worth -- I miscarried, had a D&C...
Got pregnant again...
Found a bit of blood in mucous, yes...
Things are still fine at twenty-odd weeks.
Good luck!
(Edited to add: the blood was red, not brown, & at about 7 weeks. Unnerving, yes.)

It could be a "low lying placenta" or "placenta previa" .. I had this!
I started bleeding bright red blood at 15 weeks .. went to the ER (hystrical, because I thought I was losing my baby) .. they did an ultrasound, baby was perfect and the bleeding was because I have a "low lying placenta". I then (for 4 weeks) continued spotting brown. It does not affect the baby whatsoever. The doctor said 96% of people who have a "low-lying" placenta in early pregnancy will clear itself up and will be perfect by full term and will have a normal vaginal delivery. Worse case scenerio is that if the placenta doesn't move up (from your uterus expanding as your tummy grows) .. then in that 4% you will have to have a c-section. But you will still have a healthy baby :)
I then went in for my 19 week ultrasound .. and no more low-lying placenta!! it's completely normal!! no spotting .. nothing! it was as if I never had it :)
I've known SEVERAL women who had this (some spotted, some didn't) and EVERY one of them cleared up by term and deliverd their babies vaginally! It's so very common in early pregnancy. Don't stress about it. I stressed myself retarded when it happend to me. I'm now 23 weeks pregnant with a very healthy baby boy!
Hang in there .. and relax :)
good luck! God bless

call and ask your healthcare professional for 2.5mg Valium. that's no longer lots yet purely sufficient to take the edge off. It shouldn't make you spacy. Take stunning once you get to the airport. do no longer drink with it yet in approximately half-hour you will no longer sense so demanding. additionally convey some water on the plane with you and in line with danger your ipod or something to observe a action picture directly to maintain your recommendations off the flight. you would be ok. purely breathe and take the Valium. Have a brilliant trip!

Stay positive that things are ok. You are not bleeding heavily or cramping and that is a good sign. Many women bleed a little in pregnancy. Good Luck at the doctors.

what color was the blood? Was is brown or red? I had brown blood at week 6. They said it was just residual blood & I'm at week 21 now. I'm sure every thing's fine. They say once there's a heartbeat, the risk of miscarriages drops.

Good luck....hopefully you'll get another u/s to check on your little guy. Only a few more weeks until you hit the second trimester, and hopefully you'll feel better about the pregnancy.

Make sure you tell your doctor about it. But I can tell you that my good friend had her "period" during her entire pregnancy. She had bleeding, and it wasn't as heavy, but would last for a couple of days. Of course everytime she had this, she called her doctor. It is scary, but it may be nothing.
Tell your doctor, and they will tell you what to do. Good luck!!!!
