Actually, there are plenty of laws that protect an 18 year old from getting kicked out. They are all housing laws. You as the parent unfortunately have to abide by rules affect landlords, as your 18 year old has established residence there and cannot be simply "kicked out" The 18year old in question actually has to be evicted and therefore means that you have to go to court to get this done. And no, they dont have to follow your rules while they live there either.....Sorry, but you need a lawyer, unfortunately your "tenant" has more rights than you do.
*EDIT* You can believe what you will, or you can believe the only correct answer on this thread. I certainly do not agree with the law, but it is what it is. Once a person has been in a residence for 30 days, they have established themselves as a tenent and it becomes difficult to get them out. Like I said I dont agree with it, but its the right answer. You can verify that with an attorney if youd like.

Hilarious answers, huh? Your child is not a tenant, who has rights to remain in your home, free of charge and doesn't have to follow the rules. What a freaking joke! You are not a landlord who has to live up to some non existant rental agreement.
We see all the damn messages from the 14 yr olds here who think they should be emancipated, from those cruel parents who won't let them take over the house. Then the opposite... the 25 yr olds who think mommy/daddy have a legal obligation to keep providing free room and board, not to mention their own tv.
18 is legally an adult. YOU NO LONGER are responsible for them.. not where they live, their bills, etc. YOU own the home, and have the right to choose who lives there, and how. Or not at all.

Dear Parent:
No, when the kid is 18 you can put him out. Isn't that GREAT!!!!!
Sometimes "tough love" is the best thing you can give your child.......
When my dear daughter was 18, I gave her two choices....go to college or get a job and find her own place. She went to college a coupla months and dropped out. After laying around the house for a month, I got tired of it...I gave her 30 days to find a job and find a place to live. We helped her find a small apartment and she found the job. We paid her first months rent and security. It is amazing how fast she found a job when she realized we were serious.....
She is now an amazing single Mom with a terrific 16 year old son whom I adore. She has a great job that gives her plenty of travel, good salary. She is a wonderful woman of 46 years old.....
So, launch the kid, help if you can, don't baby him/her anymore.....

Nope ... at 18 you are LEGALLY Responsible for ALL your bills -- rent, food, clothing, shelter ...
Why do you ask anyway (is it either you or a child you have) ... is it out of FEAR that one must quickly find a job, start getting off the couch, have to leave the Video Games behind ... and yes, WORK? Being nasty/abusive to one's parent(s) in THEIR HOME? Insisting that this is YOUR room (or property -- when the REAL TRUTH is that the Parental Figure(s) have PAID for everything that you eat, wear, sleep on, or consume)?

I sure hope not, talk about a nanny state law.
Why are you worried that you are going to be kicked out and afraid that you are going to have to do more to survive than sit on the couch watching MTV and playing X Box?

No. Once you reach the age of eighteen, you are legally an adult. Your parents are no longer legally responsible for you
