I cant sit, stand or walk without my lower back hurting. Ive tried everything possible to relieve the pain. Im not sure if I should be worried about it or not. Im not in labor because my contractions are irregular, but I am having a lot of pressure in my lower abdomen and pelvis also. What do you suggest? Am I better of calling my doctor even if it may not be serious?

You might want to call the Dr. just on case. At 38 weeks you could be in early labor. I had back labor with my first baby and as soon as my water broke(39 weeks) the back pain started right up.Just b/c you aren't feeling contractions on your abdomen yet, does not mean you aren't in labor!! You shouldn't be in that much pain that you can't function. Try drinking some water also. Sometimes that helps...you may be a bit dehydrated. But definitely call the Doc.

I felt that exact pain, and a little while later, my labor started. Lie down, drink some water, take a shower... those can help ease the pain slightly. If it doesn't go away in a little while, or if your water breaks, then call your doctor, just to be on the safe side. Good luck and congrats!

I had severe back pain in the first day of my 37th week and didn't think anything of it but, I had the baby 12 hours later. Sounds like "back" labor to me. All women feel contractions differently.

I would call your doctor just to make sure. My back was hurting so much during those last few weeks also. I found out it was just the baby getting into position for birth.

what you are feeling is normal. there is not a whole lot you can do about it. you can call the doc but unless you are having regular contractions they will not do much. try a warm bath and some tylenol
