It's normal up to a certain point. If you're a teenager and you just don't like to hand out with people and date, but you still have a normal, healthy teenage life that's one thing. But if you're in total seclusion, and don't do other normal things, I'd be a little worried. All teenagers are different. Take me for example. I had all friends that went out and partied, and had a huge social crowd. But that wasn't my thing. I liked staying at home and watching movies or doing other things outside of the house. I had friends at school and would be with them, but I never really went out with them on weekends or anything. I just liked having time with myself sometimes. I think that is perfectly healthy. And I just turned 20 and have a great life, even though I never was the "going out to have fun type". I just recently started dating my boyfriend, and it's great. So don't worry about it. You'll start doing that stuff when you're ready. Don't let anyone pressure you to do it if you don't want to.

Yes.
But I don't think its okay.
The teen years are an important time to gain social skills. If your teen doesn't want to hang out or date get them involved in something else. Drama, volunteering, sports, or martial arts. Something where they're around and interacting with their peers.
Theres a good chance they will start to make more friends and maybe eventually decide they would like to hang out and date.
I believe this behaivor is usually a case of "they don't know what they're missing".

It depends. Did you used to hang out and date, or have you stopped recently? Some people are just the shy type, but for others this could be a sign of depression. Talk to your parents about it. :-)
Good luck!!

Yeahh, take it from someone who is a teen. Not all teens like going out all the time, drinking, partyin, and dating. Everyone is different. Teens have different interests. Ask your son/daughter what they like to do for fun or what they would like to do. Maybe he/she likes staying at home being with the family. But its a different story if your child seems sad or always in his/her room, I dont think thats the case though. Hope this helps.

Yes. Teenage years can be awkward for some. It's something that others have to get used to. It is after all, the change between childhood to young adulthood.
Give your teenager (or yourself, if you are one) more time to ease into being a teen. Remember that everyone is unique and it's normal to be different.

YES!! most people do the whole 'date' seen b/c everybody else does. it's a waste of time. who's going to spend their life with somebody they met in highschool? HAVING FUN is what high school is about. different people have different tastes. guys (and girls) are immature in high school and some people just don't want to deal with that.

I think it's okay. I have a 16-year-old son who "hangs out" with his friends, but he has absolutely no interest in dating. And I'm glad!!!!!! There's plenty of time for that later.

Yeah, I'm a teen and I HATE going out because it seems so pointless. I only go out places if I have to....so, yeah, it's normal for some teens to feel that way.

Yeah, sure, for any number of reasons. Some are loners, some are late bloomers, some are more comfortable in a different crowd.
