Why did Yahoo start the whole fan thing anyway?

Doesn't it seem like High School all over again (for those not in school), when you're trying to get people to like you, or is it just my imagination?

I'm not sure why they started it but i think its kinda of cool. Yea same here. Not many people wants to be my fan :(

like candidating for Senior Class President. Gotta be a contributer to many things to make your yearbook biography bigger than the others.
