Suppose my friend's mother passed away. When I meet my friend what do I tell him/her to lessen grief? What other help can I do?

One of the greatest lessons I've ever learned that just happens to be in reguards to dealth is that mourning and crying and being sad about a dealth is all in reality selfish. If you look at it your actually sad about your loss and it helps greatly to try to think about the person who actually died and maybe there better off I mean were they in pain, or going thru this or that? If it was an accident that still applies really. I mean I know it sounds like a harsh thing to say to someone who is feeling down, but once they get ti through there head it should make sense to them and help out alot, probly end up thanking you for the relief it ended up giving. Its true to, if you think about it and it really is a cool lesson to learn, and makes these experiences alittle easier to grasp and endure, good luck Kim

I was in the same boat when my brother killed himself. It helped me if my friends just acted like they normally did and tryed to make me laugh. They never brought up what happened or made jokes about death. When I needed to talk about what happened they listened but didn't comment, they just listened. And when I needed to cry, I had they're shoulder to cry on and they didn't comment about that either. There's alot going on in a persons mind when they lose someone close and alot of emotional stuff too. It helps just to be their friend and be there for them. Show your support and comfort them when they need it, that's all it takes.

Just onetime put your arms around them and tell them your so sorry for their great loss. Just onetime don't keep bringing it up because it just brings back what they would rather not be remined of all the time. Their trying to get their life back together and to be reminded just brings back to many memories all over again.
