I'm a college student with no prior job experience. I just applied for my first job at Bestbuy, Blockbuster, and EbGames.

I feel those stores would suit me well since I'm into video games, movies, music, and other form of entertainment.

However, I feel I'm capable of doing something more demanding and challenging. But since I have no job experience, I have absolutely no idea where to begin.

Can you folks please give me some suggestions, tips, or anything?

I'm a mathematics major with a good knowledge of computer and its application.

How about setting your sites a little higher. How about going through your school and applying for a paying internship with a computer company etc. That way you will have experience when you graduate.

When I was going to college, I was first in Management career training, but after taking a course in Finance, and doing my term paper on the top Fortune 500 CEO's, I learned that most of the top CEO's had a degree in finance and/or accounting. Since being in the accounting field, the newest direction is in IT. Having both an IT degree supplemented by at least 18 semester hours in accounting opens a lot more doors than you might imagine. Think of all the businesses that have computers and accountant types, and the fact that you'd be able to fill both. Besides accounting, there is auditing, banking, financial services, hospital services, and on and on. Just think of the possibilities. If I had to do it all over again, that's where I'd be!

Retail jobs are not much of a challenge, but since you had no jobs, it is a good place to start to gain some experience. I would ask around for people you know who who might have a position open once you gain enough experience. Good luck.

Try a paid internship. Check with your school's guidance office as they sometimes have postings. Also, register with temp agencies. They test your skills on the computer (so easy if you use them) and then can send you out on different jobs and you can experience varied working environments. Good luck.

I can't say it any better than the internship.
