I think it's hilarious that you care, and give your wives little idiosynchrosies all this attention. Do whatever she wants she's a pregnant crazy lady like all of them. Rationale? Out the window my friend.

Yes this superstition has been around for ages.It goes back probably for over a hundred years. Its not only prams, some expectant mums wont have any baby things in the house.. This tends to occur when expecting the first child. While it is only superstition go along with your wife for her peace of mind while she is expecting. Keep the gear at one of your parents homes until required. With best wishes to your wife and yourself for that happy event,

My husband is Jewish, and according to my mother-in-law (along many of our friends who have had babies), it's bad luck to bring ANYTHING related to the baby into the house before the baby is born. I guess the Daddy's are busy while mommy is in the hospital recovering! I didn't follow this superstition, I have had fun getting clothing washed and setting things up. But, I think if i were you, i'd just leave the pram at your mom's house while still waiting for Baby to arrive!

My mum bought a pram for me and wanted to keep it at her house until the baby was born, but I refused! It's in my house.
I need the car seat, which is part of the pram to be in the car so I can bring the baby home from hospital!

It is an age old superstition, and I know loads of mothers who have felt the same! Just bear with it, it's not like you need the pram without the baby anyway!

Honestly this time i would not buy anything for the baby until I was part way through the second trimester. I have had a Miscarriage in the past and I had already bought stuff for that baby. Then I had to deal with getting rid of it because I knew that I could not use it for another child.
I would honestly say listen to your wife. This is how she feels let go with that.

I had the pram in the house, no problem, and the car seat that was part of it. I didn't need the car seat there either as I had my baby at home not in the hospital. She didn't go out for the first few days anyway.
Go with it if it makes her more comfortable!

This is a well known superstition. I was the same. All my baby things were kept out of the house until I was safely at home with the baby.
Best wishes for the new arrival.

We didn't know about the superstition, but wouldn't have cared anyway. Our stroller has always been inside, even before the baby was born.
Your best bet with a pregnant woman: If it makes her feel better, than let her do it.

ok. I didn't know what a pram was until I read 'eebrs' reply. A stroller? I believe I kept mine in my house beforehand, but I'm not superstitious. If it makes her feel better, humor her, after all she is carrying this baby plus lots of hormones.

My mum bought my pram the day she came home with me! It is meant to bring really bad luck to buy anything for the baby in advance or decorate a room for them etc. Hope this helps!
