Polyesters are a class of synthetic material made by chaining esters together. The most common is polyethylene terephthalate (PET) and polycarbonate is another well known example. There's no simple or quick answer to what they are made of, mostly hydrocarbons though.

Hi
Polyester is a man made material. Its made from different chemicals.
Its made from a process when alcohol reacts with a chemical called carboxylic acid... but thats all very technical and boring so I wont go on about what I know about that!!!
Its cheap and thats why a lot of cheaper clothes are made from it. Its not as breathable to wear as cotton etc so its more the sort of fabric you are more likely to sweat in etc.
I like clothes made of polyester thou!
