We see programs or articles about the horrible effects of global warming all the time, even movies - e.g the day after tomorrow - have been made about this cause. But could it all in fact be propaganda made in order to get money for a problem that doesnt even exist?

Weve already seen the first effects of this with the proposed added air tax for more then one flight per year.
How long will it be before carbon emmision tax goes out of control?

The Earth experiences natural fluxtuation in heat and CO2 all the time. Look back several million years and the earth was much warmer then it is today, with huge amount of CO2 due to the abundance of active volcanoes.

What do you think?

For Massive Mann: So that even you can understand

i know what global warming is
i was just debating how much man had to do with it and whether some people are abusing natural temperature fluctuations for extra tax payers money.

Let me explain it so even you can understand.
Go to bed, put on a blanket. Now put on another,
now another and another. No you can't take any off.
Now lay there for an hour. Now Imagine the Earth
having to keep all the Pollution inside the sky limit,
and have the sun beat down on it .
Think it might get a little warm, like you??

AND SHE CAN"T EVER TAKE THE COVERS OFF!!!!!!!

It's not propaganda; I refuse to be that ignorant. ON the other hand, I don't think that any global warming is a result of human intervention and carbon emissions.

The global warming theory holds that buildups of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere will trap heat, and make the world warmer. As the National Research Council on Climate Change explained, if the theory is correct, then the warming cannot be evident only at the ground level, but also in the atmosphere. There has been no such atmospheric warming, despite constant rhetoric about pollutants in the atmosphere.

If carbon emissions don't cause it, then there has to be some sort of other explanation for the warming. Surely enough, the answer others refuse to accept, that there is no answer, quite likely is the answer.

When we look at charts of the earth's temperatures over the past century, we see that not only has the earth's temperature fluctuated, but that the periods of the greatest warmth, the first 30 years of the century, occurred before people started settling down and emitting the most carbon, after World War II. No matter how one goes about interpreting the data, it is clear that when the earth is warmest, it is not because we emitted the most pollutants. If carbon emissions and greenhouse gases have any effect, the earth's fluctuating temperatures will easily supersede it.

There are, indeed, natural heating and warming trends, and there are other factors that cause heating and warming.

There's this thing called the Scientific Method where experiments are designed to take these factors into account and to isolate other factors ("controlled experiements") so we can determine their effects on the results.

The reason why there is an overwhelming consensus in the scientific community that current warming is strongly influenced by man-made factors is because there have been many, many experiements that have been done, analyzed, then submitted for criticism and review.

There has not been a single published and peer-reviewed scientific paper that concludes that current global warming is NOT man-influenced.

Vegetation uses CO2, and when that vegetation gets buried and the carbon is stored over hundreds of millions of years, and in the course of 200 years we release all that carbon, without offsetting the release by some mechanism to take carbon out, how can anyone with a working brain think that this is part of a natural cycle?

The science is solid, and it HAS taken "natural factors" into account. The consensus is overwhelming. Don't be fooled by paid industry PR flacks who try and muddy the waters.

Science is about competing ideas and theories. Rarely is there a scientific consensus/agreement as powerful as the current one on global warming.

The fact that global warming is happening is not a debating factor anymore. Temperatures are rising and some glaciers are melting. The debate has moved to whether it is caused by humans or is it caused by natural phenomena. Many people claim that global warming is caused by human factors but new research says that it is not. It says that changes in the sun have caused the effects that we see on earth and similar changes that have been taking place on Mars over recent years.

Helped my son do a report on this. Scary stuff. I believe it. Too complicated for anyone to just make up. Check the environmental websites. Just check out the weird weather we've been having lately. Snow where there usually isn't any. We had a devastating snow storm on October 12th and then no snow until mid-January. We used to always have tons of snow. Some scientists, about 500, have gotten together to report that their origin reports were altered by the government before being presented. If not global warming, why are the ice shelfs breaking up? Check the websites.

BOTH!

Global Warming is real but it's naturally occurring but there are some that want you to think it's man made. Look at the cross sections of rock and it will show you that these have been many tropical ages followed by ice ages. Some people are easily suckered into believing the man made crap so they will pay for it with their hard warned money.

Al Gore is just one of those people.

First, global warming, climate change is occurring. The UN report correctly states that if man were to stop all his activities today nothing could stop it (validating the opinion of those of us who think it is not a man made problem) Second, This issue is defiantly being used to justify new taxes, restrictions on private property rights, and control of individual liberties. Notice it is only the anti-human left that seeks the power of government to advance their agenda. That observation alone should tell you all you need to know

It is a good idea to look at scientific evidence on global warming. Scientists have been concerned about it for decades. Here's some sites that can give you more information:

The fact that many species have gone extinct in my lifetime is another warning sign, as far as I am concerned. It shows that there is something really wrong with the environment.

If, like me, you live in a rural area and then go visit a city, you can see and smell the pollution-the effect of humanity on the environment is obvious.

I believe that if we have a choice between harming the environment and not harming it, the decision should be simple.

If its not global warming, its acid rain, or cancer, or the loss of land that can be used for farms. Global warming is not the only possible consequence of pollution. If the toxic elements in cigarettes cause cancer, think about all the toxic elements rejected in the air by factories.

If you look at science, first of all there is no such thing as a real hard fact and that is one of the reasons scientists believe their findings regarding global warming is highly conclusive rather than conclusive.

Green technologies are cheaper and more cost effective in the long run. Wouldn't rather just use less gas??

Current findings state that if we do not change our approach we will face water shortages and increased disease in 70 years. That's still our lifetime and your children's lifetime.

I think that 99% of the people who believe global warming is part of a natural cycle have refused to see "An Inconvenient Truth" because they don't like Al Gore. I say, be a grownup, put aside your feelings for the man, and go see the movie. After seeing it, if you still feel global warming is a hoax or part of a natural cycle, fine. But perhaps you will at least be motivated to do more research and understand the subject better.

Having said that, as far as I can tell, there's no down side to all of us taking better care of our planet, no matter what our beliefs are. I'd like my grandchildren to have a healthy planet to live on.
