Great question. We as parents have to be diligent as to keeping an eye on our children. I have two adult children, and a 16 year old, and I still ask my 21 and 19 year olds where they are going, who are they going with, and what time they will be back. I'm getting older and I need my sleep. and can't stay awake all night wondering where they are and what they are doing. Parents have dropped the ball. We have to pick it back up again and regain our place in the game.

Yes the parents are usually at fault. But it's hard to know how to teach your kids certain things like how to hang with the right crowd, or be the right crowd. Usually kids do exactly what their parents did, and attract the same kinds of friends to be around that their parents had.

You sound like you don't have kids. Although you can control your children to some extent, when they are at school, on the bus, at the bus stop, etc. there's not a whole lot you can do. Also, every parent at some point has to make a decision about how much leverage and trust they give their child so that the day they turn 18 and/or leave home they can survive. If you don't let children grow and make some choices, even mistakes, for themselves, then they grow up to become adult children who never leave home.

Well why don't the parents spend time with their kids, not be over protective, but TRUST that you taught your kids the right morals.
I didn't hang out with the best crown, but I'm smart enough to know what they were doing was harmfull, So I wouldn't participate.

yeh- you can do your best to raise the kid and hope that they choose their friends wisely, but, ultimately the kid has to have a good head on his/her shoulders to avoid getting into trouble- or lucky enough not to get caught!
Parents don't want to take responsibility, and of course their precious offspring COULDN't have done anything that bad on his/her own!!!-HAHA, Can you say, in DENIAL???

most parents can't really stop their child from hanging out w/ the people they choose to since they hang out w/ them at school..

either they don't know or don't want to admit that their kid could actually be at fault.
