Why are so many shows taking 3+ week long breaks in between new episodes. We will have one new episode, followed by 2+ weeks of repeats. LOST even took 3 MONTH long breaks. What is going on with us? Why can't we start and end a season without taking breaks?
Is there a reason shows are doing this?

That's why I have TiVo. I let a whole bunch of episodes build up, then I watch them over the course of a few days.
I won't let myself fall captive to WHEN the TV Networks want me to watch! PLUS, it lets me fast-forward through commercials!
Lastly, this strategy will NOT work for every show. Sometimes, the Networks wait so long (Sopranos, 24), that I've become disinterested with the story line.
In THAT case, I've moved on to another show, and so long sukka producers! Try and get me to re-watch your show now!
I DO find it interesting that FOX and NBC have tried a new model. The all episodes of comedy shows The Winner and Andy Barker P.I. have already been put out on iTunes before they aired! Now THAT is a GREAT way to build an audience!

it is all about ratings for sweeps, they show new shows in feb and april for sweeps, they start in sept, and oct. to build for nov sweeps, then show repeats in dec, jan usually show first run shows for build up feb sweeps, then take a break, come back end of march for april..

I know - its so infuriating - Heroes has had 2 breaks - we want to know what happens for gods sake.

idk but it makes me so mad I LOVE NEW YORK does that its stupid!
