I am from SA and I can tell you that almost everything in SA is a lot cheaper than in the USA. I hope you enjoy your trip!

I don't know about South Africa, but when we went to Nigeria we bought the bug spray in America. The bug spray that you bought in South Africa would probably be american which would make it more expensive, or it would be some cheap brand that doesn't even work. Better safe than sorry!!

Irokotree - If you have no idea then don't answer, you are now just talking ****. (PS - USA exports very little to SA other than machinery and electronics, have you not noticed your "trade deficit")
Rather buy our locally produced insect repellents, yours wont be as effective and it would definitely be cheaper to buy it here due to the favourable exchange rate.

American bugs are not the same as bugs found in other countries so buy the local brand it's been tested and it works, it's a no brainer.

You can't take aerosol containers or liquid containers on a plane anymore, so buy it there.
