I understand that AAA is the best, but what is A+ mean? Like what status is that? Can someone please explain the rankings? Thank you!

The quality of competition starting with A and going up to triple A. The new step is the major leagues. There is no A- or A+. It's A, AA, AAA and then the majors.

There is just A, AA, and AAA. The single A is the first level of the Minor Leagues. The triple A means that the next level, is the Major Leagues.

Jeremy has posted the best answer. There is indeed a "high A" and "low A" level, plus there are rookie/instructional leagues that you don't have listed in your question.

Really good college players will go straight from the draft and into AA, but it's fairly rare. They'll usually spend at least some time in A ball. College players drafted in the later rounds will usually start at low A and move up fairly quickly to AA.

Low A and the rookie leagues are generally for players drafted out of high school, and sometimes undrafted free agents from Latin America or wherever.

AAA, of course, is just below the major leagues. A number of players have skipped AAA all together, but they'll usually struggle.

The levels of minor league baseball, from top to bottom, are:

AAA
AA
A+ ("High A")
A ("Low A")
A- ("short-season A")
Rookie

Technically all A leagues are the same level but in practice certain ones have a higher caliber of play. The short-season leagues (where the schedule doesn't start until June) have tended to be lower level because their rosters are more likely to have just-drafted players on them (since the draft occurs in June, at about the time their season starts). For Low A and High A, the difference is less distinct - teams tend to move players up their their system from short-season to Low to High, but the progression is more about which leagues have traditionally been higher level than anything official. In any case, the jump in quality between these levels isn't as great as it is between A and AA or AA and AAA.

the A-levels and Rookie ball tend to be a weeding-out place - the players there are good enough to play professionally, but most won't prove themselves good enough for the major leagues. By the time you move up to AA and, especially, AAA, it's assumed you're a guy who has the abilities to compete at the major league level and just need to hone those skills.

Rookie, A, AA, AAA.
The four levels of minor league baseball with Rookie being the first, and AAA being the fourth. Players can skip leagues and have been known to go from A to the majors in a matter of weeks.

As others have stated, "A",AA", "AAA", etc. denote the different levels of competition; "A" being the lowest where most players start. However, back in the 70's at least, there was even a "D" level. I know of one player, Tim Foli of the Mets, who made it to the major leagues after having started in class "D".

IN THE MINOR LEAGUES THERE ARE THREE LEVELS, A, AA, AND AAA. SINGLE A IS THE LOWEST LEVEL MINOR LEAGUE LEVEL, THE DOUBLE-A IS NOT THE BEST MINOR LEAGUE LEVEL, BUT BETTER THAT SINGLE-A, AND AS YOU KOW, TRIPLE-A IS THE BEST MINOR LEAGUE LEVEL.

A-, A And A+ are the lowest levels of minor league baseball.

A+ is the best level of those.

It all depends on the amount of instruction a player needs.

If he played in college, he'll probably get sent to A+

If he is drafted straight out of high school, he'll probably be sent to A-.
