It certainly is because if there were no fault, there would be about 90-% fewer earthquakes.

Not really, we've never had an earthquake anywhere near here in recorded history, but it comes bundled with insurance for other risks so we have to have it anyway. Depending on where you live you might have a different view! Now, lightning insurance is another matter - definitely worthwhile, our house was struck last Summer and I am very glad we had insurance.
