It's a coin from Greece and "APAXMAI" was the former currency unit and denomination on coins and banknotes (Greece is currently using the Euro). Apaxmai(pronounce Drachmai) was the plural form of Apaxma(Drachma), and appeared on Greek coins till 1980. From 1982 onwards(pre-Euro Greek coins was minted every 2 years except 1996), the plural form was changed to "ApaxmeΣ"(Drachmes), and was in use until Greece completely switched to Euro currency in 2002. Hope this answers your question.

Apaxmai is the Greek work for Drachma.
Your coin is from Greece. The currency unit of Greece was the Drachma (100 Lepta = 1 Drachma) up until 2002, when Greece adopted the Euro.

Yes, it is Greek and Apaxmai is the plural for Drachma and in English is Drachmai. So on the coin there must be a number higher than a one.

It's a Greek coin and that's the currency type - it's most likely only worth a few cents
