Without more info that isn't an answerable question.
If you're talking about a victory in the game of chess, it's capturing the other guy's King.
If you're talking about jousting in the middle ages, it's knocking the other knight off his horse.
If you're talking about war, the victor weakens the enemy to the point he gives up. (Unless you're talking about this war in Iraq, then who the *(&^^ knows what would constitute victory.)
