Thats a good question actually it could be both. I would lean more towards they have an idea of what the answer may be but they want my imput. People are not that stupid they are just curious.

I think most people want to know the answer to a question, or to know the latest piece of gossip. Sure, some people ask questions for verification, and there is nothing wrong with that, because it is usually a matter of great importance that they wish to weigh carefully.

What gets my goat is when people just make a blank and banal statement about something of little relevance, then expect you to respond just because they are yacking. When people do that, I just stay silent because I don't really want to talk unless the conversation has some relevance.

It depends on the situation and what the question is. Even if I assume they don't know the answer, I respect that they are asking because it shows they want to learn the answer.

Idk, what's your purpose in your question? Just getting our imput by stimulating dialogue, or are you seeking an answer? ;-)

Definetly not. If a person asks a question, then they are showing a certain need of knowledge, which is an admirable quality. Curiosity is the key to knowledge, which is power.

It depends on the question they're asking.
I ask questions on here all the time that I already have a certain perspective about, but I like to see how other people think about it.
